We’re Cecilia and Machiel, and we created La Briquette as a haven for people to get back to basics and enjoy the best things in life: friendship, nature, and delicious food.
La Briquette is a Regenerative Agriculture project: we grow healthy, delicious food with methods that increase the health of our soil and the surrounding ecosystem.
We designed our garden according to permaculture principles – in other words, working with, not against nature – and we manage the garden holistically.
By dining with us, we hope you get a taste of our passion, our zest for life, and our regenerative mission.
The Guinguette
At La Briquette, activism looks like sharing, cultivating and enriching. We come together to celebrate simple and hearty goodness.
Our cuisine is informal, using our own produce and that of our neighbours. We challenge ourselves to work primarily with ingredients that contribute to a healthier world.
La tartine.
our signature dish. Simple, beautiful and fulfilling, it reminds us of home and the traditions passed down through generations. We pair it with raw and transformed delicacies from our garden and nearby.
Thanks to the rich diversity of the changing seasons, and our mission to cultivate our creativity, our menu evolves constantly. Find the current version in our news.
How did we go from travelling as a couple of nature-loving wanderers, to setting up camp in Burnhaupt-le-Haut and building a farm?
The answer: our sense of urgency, a desire to do something for a world we feel is suffering, and perhaps simply the understanding that the real solutions lie in this intricate concept of ‘regeneration’.
